They fired Michel Therrien to try and salvage their season. Personally, I don't think it was the right decision. You fire a coach that is 135-105-32 in 272 games, and he brougt you to the Stanley Cup finals last season!
Therrien did a pretty good job with the assets that Shero gave him this season, even if he lost his two main defensemen.
May I have to remember you that Shero lost all of these players in the last year:
- Colby Armstrong
- Erik Christensen
- Ryan Malone
- Marian Hossa
- Angelo Esposito
- Ruslan Fedotenko
- Miroslav Satan
- Chris Minard
- Bill Thomas
Not to mention that since picking Staal in the draft pick, the Penguins didn't do a very good job in the draft (mostly trading away draft picks).
Mario should have taken a stand and fire Shero for the poor work that he's done in the past 12 months.
I got a funny feeling Therrien will be back in the NHL next year and at some point he'll have a sweet revenge on the Pens.
